Billing FAQ
Common questions about Lumen billing, trials, and payments.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Both Pro and Pro+ plans include a 7-day free trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends. Cancel anytime during the trial period at no cost.
How am I billed?
Through Shopify's billing system. Lumen charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice. You don't need to enter a separate credit card or set up any payment method.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There are no contracts, commitments, or cancellation fees. You can downgrade or uninstall Lumen at any time.
What happens when my free trial ends?
If you don't cancel during the trial, your selected plan activates and you're billed for the first month. If you cancel before the trial ends, you're not charged anything.
What happens if I exceed 50 conversations on the Free plan?
Once you reach the 50-conversation limit, Lumen pauses customer responses until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade. The counter resets with your Shopify billing cycle.
Your store is never affected. Only the chat widget's ability to handle new conversations is limited.
What happens if I exceed a paid plan's conversation limit?
Paid plans may include overage billing for extra conversations, with a monthly cap to prevent unexpected charges. Check the Pricing page in the app for the current cap shown for your plan.
Do I get a refund if I downgrade mid-cycle?
No. When you downgrade, you keep your current plan's features until the end of the billing cycle. The lower rate applies starting the next cycle.
Can I switch plans multiple times?
Yes. You can upgrade and downgrade as often as you need. Each change follows the same prorating (for upgrades) and next-cycle (for downgrades) rules.
Is there a yearly plan or discount?
Not currently. Lumen is billed monthly only. We may introduce annual pricing in the future.
I was charged but didn't mean to subscribe. What do I do?
Contact us at support@manilabs.co within 48 hours and we'll help review the issue. You can also cancel directly from Shopify to prevent future charges.
